FAQ

Scintillation Crystal Selection Questions

Which scintillation crystal has high light output?

NaI(Tl) is known for very high light output. CsI(Tl) and GAGG(Ce) are also used when their emission, density or readout matching is suitable.

Which crystal is suitable for PET?

LYSO(Ce) is widely used in PET and TOF-PET because of its density, decay time and detector performance.

Do hygroscopic crystals need encapsulation?

Yes. Materials such as NaI(Tl) and LaBr3(Ce) normally require reliable hermetic encapsulation to protect crystal performance.
