Square Type NaI(Tl) Scintillator
Square and Rectangular NaI(Tl) Scintillator for Detector Arrays
Square Type NaI(Tl) Scintillator is a hermetically encapsulated square or cuboid sodium iodide scintillator for gamma-ray detection. It is used when a rectangular active area, close-packed detector layout or side-entry geometry is preferred over a conventional cylindrical NaI(Tl) crystal.
NaI(Tl) is hygroscopic, so the crystal must be sealed in an aluminum or stainless steel housing with an optical window. Square and rectangular forms can support detector arrays, industrial monitoring systems, multi-directional radiation measurement and instruments where the mechanical layout requires a flat or cuboid scintillator.
ATR Crystal supplies square and rectangular NaI(Tl) scintillators with K9 glass, quartz or sapphire windows, custom flanges, mounting features and optional detector integration. The maximum listed crystal size is 100 mm x 100 mm x 400 mm, or about 4 in x 4 in x 16 in.

Square NaI(Tl) vs. Related Encapsulated NaI(Tl) Types
| Product | Best Fit | Main Advantage | Design Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Square Type NaI(Tl) | Detector arrays and rectangular layouts | Close-packed square/cuboid geometry | Window position and side-entry detection should be specified. |
| General Encapsulated NaI(Tl) | Standard cylindrical gamma detectors | Mature PMT-coupled cylindrical design | Best for common round detector modules. |
| End Well NaI(Tl) | Sample counting | High efficiency around small samples | Well depth and diameter must be defined. |
| Through-Side Well NaI(Tl) | Continuous flow or pipe monitoring | Through-side well geometry | Pipe or sample path must be specified. |
