SP123 plastic scintillators are specifically designed for high-efficiency alpha-ray detection. Unlike standard plastic scintillators, the SP123 utilizes a polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) substrate coated with a precisely controlled layer of silver-activated zinc sulfide, ZnS(Ag), which acts as the primary scintillating material. Typically, the ZnS(Ag) layer is applied at a density of 4.5 mg/cm², while the supporting PMMA substrate ranges from 0.1 mm to 10 mm in thickness.A significant advantage of the SP123 is its scalability; it can be manufactured in exceptionally large-area formats, with dimensions reaching up to 1000 x 1000 mm.
