SP121 Plastic Scintillators
SP121 plastic scintillators are specifically designed for the dual measurement of alpha and beta radiation. The SP121 is essentially an SP102 scintillator base coated with a precisely controlled layer of silver-activated zinc sulfide, ZnS(Ag), at a density of 4.5 mg/cm². In this configuration, the SP102 substrate detects beta particles, while the ZnS(Ag) coating is responsible for alpha detection. The thickness of the ZnS(Ag) layer is precisely optimized to fully absorb incident alpha particles. At Atr Crystal, we employ advanced spraying technology to apply this ZnS(Ag) coating, ensuring that our SP121 scintillators deliver exceptional surface homogeneity and optical uniformity.
